Richard Cornelius Nicholls who was born on July 18, 1918 in Bachelor’s Adventure to the late Louisa Holder and Richard Nicholls of Buxton Village passed on September 8, 2014 at his residence in Bachelor’s Adventure. At the age of 78, Richard started to write his life story and at the age of 91 years the first draft was printed. At the tender age of 92 he published his autobiography, “My Life My Time” which is available on Amazon.com
Together with his wife, the late Drucilla Elvira Pyle, they raised a happy family of 9 children. Richard and Drucilla were especially proud of the academic and professional achievements of their children, particularly his daughter, the late Dr. Valerie Nicholls-London, who made the family proud when she qualified as the first medical doctor in the family.
Richard Nicholls is survived by his children: Lauretta, Vilma Tafawa, Lawrence, Trevlyn Smith, Linton, Cynthia, Jennifer Cole, and Brentnol. He is also survived by his twenty four grandchildren: Omolara, Malika, Jumaane, Chisara, Camara, Rashidi, Jabari, Zakiya, Kurt, Kwesi, Mulunga, Kehinde, Jamala, Nkasia, Boris, Abigail, Samuel, Nickashia, Damali, Mosi, Jawanza, Lemuel. David and Raoul, and by his eleven great grandchildren; Bahtawi, Thulani, Ezekiel, Akosua, Abiola, Nataliah, Anniya, Elize, Daniella, Dandre, and Tiwalola.
Richard Nicholls roots are in Buxton and Friendship and his family are the De Harte, Holder, Beaton, Garrett, and Accra.
The burial will take place at Bachelor’s Adventure on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. May his soul rest in peace.
